77절. 화두 Topic                                                          

 

화두

어느것이 진리이냐  What is the truth?
조주스님 말하기를  Master Joshu says
개에게는 불성없다  Even a dog has Buddha-nature
만공스님 생각들이  Master Mangong's thoughts
저텃밭에 많이있네  Are abundant in the rice fields

숭산스님 방망이를  Master Sosan wielding his staff
내리치며 이것이야  Strikes down and says, "This is it!"
달마조사 고쳐줄께  Dharma master will fix you
너의마음 가져와라  Bring your mind forth
모든것이 화두이네  Everything is a topic

나무토막 그 속에도  Even in a piece of wood
돌속에도 내가있네  And in a stone, I exist
삼라만상 모든것은  All of the myriad things
나에게서 나왔으니  Have come from me
그속에는 내가있네  And within them, I exist

너희들이 가진지식  The knowledge you possess
한정되고 갇혀있어  Is limited and confined
어느것이 진리인지  What is the truth?
어디에서 나왔다가  Where did it come from
가는지도 모르는가  And where is it going

나는모든 것들위의  I am above all things
빛들이며 진리이라  The light and the truth
나로부터 모든것이  All things come from me
나왔으며 나에게서  And to me they return
모든것이 이르리라  Everything will return to me
