49. 마음의 주인 찾기 Finding the Master of the Mind   

 

 

 

내가나의 마음주인  If one cannot find the master of their own mind
못찾고서 제멋대로 And wanders aimlessly,
다닌다면 업습된다  They will fall into delusion.

세상에는 자기마음 In this world, there are too many
제멋대로 다니도록 Who have let their own minds
놓은사람 너무많다.  Wander freely.

마음딴데 가있으면,  If the mind is elsewhere,
그자리에 오만가지  Countless thoughts
생각들이 들어온다.  Enter that space.

본래마음 텅비었고 The original mind is empty,
투명하며 공한것이 Transparent, and pure,
너무나도 깨끗하여 So clean that

들어오는 사물들을  It can accept things
있는대로 그대로를 As they are,
받아들일 수가있다.  Without judgment.

그마음에 헛생각이 When false thoughts
들어오면 사물들도  Enter that mind,
옳게보지 못하고서 One cannot see things clearly,

얼룩이진 거짓마음   Stains of false thoughts
그생각은 그마음의  Are blemishes on that mind,
내마음에 얼룩이며  And judgment based on them

그대로를 판단하여 Reflects the life lived
거울위에 묻은때는 When they are mirrored,
살아온삶 기억이네 Erasing the stains

얼룩들을 지워내고  I'm going to remove the stains
앉은때를 걷어내면  If you remove your seat
투명하게 비쳐진다 be reflected transparently

명상한다 침묵한다 In meditation, in silence,
그속에서 헛생각에 If one dwells on false thoughts,
마음짓고 있는다면  They may end up

그마음을 구하려다 Trying to find that mind,
자칫하다 명상속에 But they might inadvertently abandon it
그마음을 버리는것  In the midst of meditation.

침묵속에 생각속에  In silence, in thought,
짓눌려서 제마음을  Crushed by their own thoughts,
잃고나서 후회한다  They regret losing their own mind.

산삶기억 지우는게 Erasing the memories of mountainous life
내마음의 때를벗겨 Peels away the time of my mind,
마음주인 찾는거네 Finding the master of the mind.
